Village Tannery.

Exploring the nooks and crannies of my new neighborhood recently, I stumbled upon the most absolutely amazing find. Village Tannery is tucked away on quaint Great Jones Street in between Lafayette and Broadway and is stocked with custom-made leather bags that are designed right in their in-store open workshop. 

Stop by and talk to Memo, who is the architect of mostly all of the bags you'll see and he will work with you to customize your own leather piece or make additions to an in-store favorite. In the business for 20 years, Memo uses leather from the same material you see in brand stores, such as Frye, to create timeless leather goods that are quality with a lifetime guarantee! (During my visit, Memo was working on restoring a bag from one of his clients that was 15 years old!)

 Equally as attractive as the level of quality is the idea of having a lasting piece with a story behind it. You not only know where it was made, but you also have a relationship with the designer who crafted it. 

I am currently obsessed with one of their leather backpacks and a weekender bag.
