I hope everyone had a great holiday! Tommy and I spent time with our families back home and are looking forward to having a relatively quiet New Year's Eve. Seems like everyone is really feeling the laid back vibes this year more than the party scene. Looking back on 2015, it has been a very busy year. Besides starting a new job and moving into a new apartment, we got engaged(!), which will surely bring on an even busier 2016.
I'll most likely be in jeans and a simple top and a fun pair of earrings like this pair my sister, Sam got me for Christmas. If we head to a bar for the ball drop, I'll throw this fun plaid jacket on. I'm usually one to opt for camel colored and grey coats but this jacket, as are all patterned jackets, is perfect to pair with a simple look to spice things up a bit!
Have a fun and safe New Year's, see you in 2016!

Palette Talk.

For anyone that knows me, they know I love myself a good neutral palette. In fact, I have a tough time veering away from it when it comes to fashion or home decor - for that matter. But there's something about pairing blacks, whites, greys and beiges together that seems so chic and always looks put-together. The weather in NYC has been amazing recently so all you really need is a light sweater - if that! If only it could stay this way until Spring...

Brit Inspired.
| (Jeans, DL1961; Shirt, J.Crew; Jacket, Barbour; Sweatshirt, courtesy of Knackered Goods; Shoes, Wythe NY via Gilt, similar here; Jewelry, Club Monaco, Tiffany; Bag, Ralph Lauren; Sunnies, Ray-Ban) |
I was excited to have the opportunity to wear a piece from the new line, Knackered Goods. The brand pulls from British fashion and culture but maintains a casual and comfortable sense that alludes to American sportswear. What I love most is how soft the material is, which makes it perfectly cozy for meeting my parents for Sunday brunch. I threw on my Barbour jacket to stick with the British theme and keep me warm on the more shaded streets :)

Black, White, Bright.

Some times, most times, keeping it simple looks best. Paired a sheer checked button down with the most comfortable pants from J.Crew. I wish they had these in more colors, they fit perfectly and feel like pajama pants. A basic palette really made my nail color pop (when my sleeve wasn't covering them!)!

Acid Wash.

I know, I know: Acid wash jeans are so 80's, so Kimmy Kibler, so [insert here]! Perhaps I was drawn to them in TopShop for just that reason - the former - not Kimmy Kibler. See, I had this thing for 80's retro style back in high school and when I saw this pair I think it was a fine example of a blast from the past that I just couldn't pass up.
Added some rough metallic studs and a heavy chain necklace and I'm ready to party on Wayne.
P.S. I drink coffee through a straw...yup!
