Palette Talk.

(Top, Club Monaco; Sweater, Banana Republic (similar here); Pants, Theory - on sale!; Shoes, Ivanka Trump; Jewelry, David Yurman & Hermes)

For anyone that knows me, they know I love myself a good neutral palette. In fact, I have a tough time veering away from it when it comes to fashion or home decor - for that matter.  But there's something about pairing blacks, whites, greys and beiges together that seems so chic and always looks put-together. The weather in NYC has been amazing recently so all you really need is a light sweater - if that! If only it could stay this way until Spring...

Pendleton Plaid.

I love dressing for fall. Layers just make outfits so much more interesting, don't you think? I always like to go by the "3rd-piece rule" - you have your top and bottom but adding a scarf, jacket, hat or double up with a sweater and now you're talkin'. This Pendleton scarf is one of my favorites because of the tartan pattern but I'm also really feeling this one too.

Happy Friday!

Black & White.

(Jacket, J.Crew; Chambray, J.Crew (sold out but similar here); Sweater, Ann Taylor (currently 30% off online purchases!); Jeans, DL1961; Scarf, J.Crew; Shoes, Vince Camuto (like these too in gold!); Sunnies, Ray-Ban)
I recently decided to take the plunge and chop off 6inches of my hair! I wanted to go shorter but since it was my first time in a long time having short hair (3rd grade??), I guess easing into it was the play. I went to Antonio Prieto in Chelsea and had Brenna, who was great and I would definitely recommend.

I was contemplating this drastic change for a while, keeping in mind that hair always grows back if I absolutely hated it. Did I ever think I could pull off short hair? Meh. It wasn't something I pictured myself doing until later down the road but I'm so happy I did. Watching my locks float to the floor as I sat patiently in the swivel chair turned out to be extremely freeing and much less stressful than when I go in to get a simple trim.

Would you opt for a shorter do' this season?

A bit on what I'm wearing: Black & white always look chic together.  I decided to take my own advice and layer up with fun textured pieces, like these Vince Camuto suede and patent leather flats (Michael Jackson, anyone? Yow!).

Rooftop Malbec.

(Jacket, J.Crew; Sweater, J.Crew (recently worn here); Shirt, J.Crew; Denim, J.Crew; Shoes, Converse; Sunnies, Ray-Ban)

My sister Sam has a great rooftop at her East Village apartment. I'm lucky enough to live on the same street as her (only a couple avenues west!), making it easy to stop by for midday drinks and music with a view. As is gets chillier, I look forward to sipping cool weather wines like Malbec and sporting winter coats as an extra layer.

For this season, I just purchased this camel colored coat from J.Crew. I love the color because it goes with everything and like that it has a standing collar, making it slightly more modern. It is super warm with room to spare for layering underneath too, but doesn't have the look of a bulky jacket - which is key!

If you saw my last post, you know last Friday I was prepping to head home for "The Hunt" on Saturday. It was a fantastic weekend with perfect weather for the races and as tradition, my parents hosted a brunch of bagels, eggs and mimosas so we could fill up before we all headed into the day's festivities.

There were a lot of restrictions compared to past years along with heightened security, but I actually think it made for a better Hunt! - Far less crowded so it was much easier to spot everyone you knew outside of your own spot!

I opted to wear my J.Crew utility vest over a lightweight sweater that usually has a jeweled collar that I took off and replaced with an actual necklace. I have also been looking for the perfect wash of denim and I recently found them, right in time for this past weekend!

Neutrals | Patterns: Hunt Edition.

Gearing up for "The Hunt" this weekend? Every year, hunt goers come dressed to impress and this year's 93rd meeting is no different. However, as you prep for a day some closely relate to as "Christmas morning", keep a couple things in mind while you put your best (fashion) foot forward:

-Wear layers.
-Water proof shoes (or shoes you don't mind scuffing up a bit)
-Bring your sunnies (and maybe a festive koozie!)
-Something to hold anything else you might need such as a bag or an awesome pocket belt like the one below.

Happy Hunting!
(Outfit 1: Vest, J.Crew; Sweater, Madewell; Denim, rag & bone (similar here); Pocket Belt, Zappos; Boots, Hunter X rag & bone. Outfit 2: Top, St. James; Jacket, J.Crew; Denim, 7FAM; Belt, Theory; Boots, Hunter)

Around Town.

(Sweater, J.Crew; Scarf, J.Crew (also like this one!); Pants, J.Crew; Shoes, Vince Camuto; Jacket, Old Navy; Sunnies, Ray-Ban; Jewelry, F.Gerald New, David Yurman)
Three-day weekends always seem to go by just as quickly as two-day weekends. I spent Columbus day weekend in the city and took advantage of all the great sales (and of course at J.Crew!). The new "Andie" chinos from J.Crew are a current favorite and a nice alternative to jeans this fall.

Minty Green.

(Pants; David Lerner; Sweater, J.Crew; Shirt, J.Crew; Watch, Coach; Jewelry, Tiffany, Crewcuts (see a cool minty green version of necklace here); Shoes, Vince Camuto similar here; Purse, Zara; Sunnies, Selima for J.Crew)

I wrote a post about the color mint around this time last year, but based on it's consistent popularity over the past year, I think it is becoming less of a fad and more of a staple. It's subtle enough to layer with other colors but is a bit more interesting than a more neutral option.

Pop of Red.

(Jacket, Barbour; Shirt, J.Crew; Sweater, J.Crew; Necklace, Joe Fresh similar here; Gloves, Bloomingdale's; Sunnies, Selima for J.Crew; Boots, Vince Camuto) Photog, SamLaj.

Home for the holidays and can't believe Christmas is already over. A couple of my favorite gifts were my Barbour jacket and leather texting gloves! Surprisingly green and red, respectively.

P.S. Today is my 100th post! Thanks for following along and I look forward to more to come!
